'51' plate C1

Before I saw that picture, I would've said that they were rare to the point of non-existence.

It does appear to be a genuine C1 though, not a C2 with a replacement bumper.

Now that does indeed seem to be a rare sight, funnily enough i posted a Couger spot a couple of days ago i saw a frosty C1 "51" plate on a drive in Byfleet Surrey, which did supprise me a little

From memory, the last registered Cougar was 2003. There is at least one C2 that's an 03 plate and there was a 52 plate C1 too.

Nice, I like seeing older cars on newer plates, but nothing beats this:

And 'built' just over the hill from me in Ledbury....

In 1997, Parkway Services of Ledbury, Herefordshire, purchased a batch of 621 Maestro cars and vans in CKD kit form. These had been stored at Cowley, Oxfordshire, since their production in mid-1996, when they became surplus to requirements. The company built up the cars and converted the majority of them to RHD form using up Rover's supply of parts. The National Database for Motoring Insurance has records of models registered between "R" and "51" number plates, meaning the overall period of Maestro availability, new in the United Kingdom, was from 1983 to 2001.

There's a company that still makes the vintage VW camper vans too. In Brazil they still make the Mk1 Beetle. There's a few 54, 55 plate camper vans about here.
