Probably made it all the way Tim, unless he had a cold air feed fitted... you should see what we used to drive though when Thailand got flooded..

If it didn't get much deeper than that and he kept it moving, he should've been okay. Wouldn't risk it myself, mind you.

In related news, there's a picture of me and my Mk3 Rover 200 doing exactly the same thing about 10 years ago in Essex on the 'net somewhere. It was taken precisely 2 minutes before I discovered that the coil pack is on the back of the engine, just above the sump.

I saw this on our local news paper website...it was in Coalville, Leics if anyone knows the owner.
Couldn't believe it when I saw it!
