accelerator pedal

Hello and welcome to the forum. (y)

I can't say I've heard of another doing that.
Is the pedal bent or coming away from it's fixings at the top, it should be fastened down in three places.

What he said. ^^^

The throttle pedal is hinged about 1" from the top. It sits in a thin metal bracket and is held in place by a single T35 bolt that enters the bracket from the left.

If it's unwound by about 1/2", the bolt will drop out of the right-hand side of the bracket, and will allow movement of the pedal, though it won't come completely adrift. Because the throttle cable is at the top of the pedal, (and the pedal box is slightly offset) pushing the throttle down will cause the pedal to lean right under tension.

This seems to be what you're experiencing. Take off the rectangular cosmetic panel under the steering wheel (just yank it out) and get your head in there with a torch.

Oh - and welcome to the club. (y)
