Hi there,i've been lurking on here since i bought a v6 Cougar last week, and thought it time to say hello
Always fancied a cougar, and the chance to pick up a 99 black v6 came up that i couldn't turn down
Impressed with it so far,few niggles to sort out but drives v well

Hi Andy, and welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.

Thanks for all the welcome's!
The forum looks to be a friendly enough place to be,unlike some others i could mention hehe
I'll definately be upgrading to the subscriber's area as soon as i get a few pennies together, just have a few things to sort on the car asap.
The brakes aren't quite what i was expecting for a sporty-ish coupe but have new mintex pads on their way!
Battery warning light seems to like coming on at over 4000rpm so need to get that looked at,and the air-con needs re-gassing as its only slightly chilled
But,i'm loving the car so far.v comfortable to drivetho it's a bit on the muted side from that v6!

I'm afraid your alternator has had it. :(
This might explain the V6's performance too. When the battery light is on it probably behaves like it's hitting a rev limiter.
A decent reconditioned one should be the cheapest fix although it's a pig to replace.

Hello and welcome aboard Andy, nice to have another Ebony V6 to add to the club. Re: the above from Manos - mine is doing the same, but at 5000RPM, so will be having my alty changed later in the year. Get some pic's up of your Coug soon so we can all have a ganza!

Hello Andy,

Welcome to the club mate!

The best bit of advice I can give you mate is to spend out the £18.00 subscription ASAP - you will save much, much more than that in no time at all!!!

Enjoy your 'cat' mate...

Guy.

thanks again for the messages.Been pricing up a new alternator and doesn't look too bad tbh.is fitting it as bad as it looks like it could be? not much room under there for my dainty little pinkies! lol
I've had a look at most of the pics on the site, and must ask if my cougar is the only one fitted with a tow bar?hehe
I'll get some pics up when i can,but have remembered the main downside of a black car.Keeping it clean!!

Not had to do it myself, but I understand it's a bit tight.

But unless you sacrifice blood from your hands to the God of maintenance, the fix won't stick. It's a rule or something.
