We took the Cougar up to Mafia HQ this weekend for a bit of surgery; namely new wishbones, new track rod ends, new drop links front and rear and both handbrake cables replaced, along with a 90,000 mile service including a spark plug change.

Nick and Terry did an absolutely sterling job, turning it round in record time whilst we hid from the rain (sorry Mark, 'heavy mist'!) in various shops in Bolton town centre. As a point of interest, the wishbones are the US ones from ASU Car Corps on eBay and as far as I know, Nick encountered no problems fitting them. I know somebody on here had problems recently with a set (GGSumo I think?), so either he was unlucky or I was lucky, but mine seem to be fine.

Anyroadup, I took it in for it's MOT this morning and it flew through with not a single advisory, so the purpose of this thread is to publicly express my appreciation to Nick and Terry for a job well done - cheers lads. Also thanks to Seanrgb for the tip about using Council MOT test centres, I took mine to Eastleigh Borough Council in Hedge End.

nice one on mot rich, you like the difference with new bones etc, i used a set of the american wishbones and had no real problems fitting, i think geoff must have been unlucky, (y)

To be honest mate, there isn't the 'night and day' difference I've heard about. I can only summise that my old ones weren't massively shot, but as they were an advisory on last year's test I wanted to be safe rather than sorry.

Top lot my lads aren't they - and congrats on the MOT Rich (y) - but most of all mate - thanks ever so much for the sneak preview of my Cougar S top spoiler - 1st time I've seen it - looks OK from what I can see :)

Ah, didn't realise you'd not seen it yet Iain. I had a good close gawp and can confirm it officially looks 'right nice'. I actually felt a small tinge of regret at choosing not to join in with the GB now I've actually seen one in place on a car.
