Bit of a dilemma....

it's auto a lot of people just leave it in park, as that locks g/box and won't move, the cougar on the spokes was fitted to C1's as an alternative to the cougar on the caps
i know the handbrake is on in pics so perhaps lighter removed for phone or something after being parked?

as you say may be worth looking in flesh but putting doctored up doesn't inspired conferdance much rather honest pic's in grotty street more genuine, but mot'd till next year and seats look ok, supposed to have svs history

edit:- had a look on there website and they seem to have done this to a lot of there pic's, but the one's of car's on there site/ground look ok, so don't know why they there doing it

This I know after being hardwired for manual and accidentally slamming a friend's Rover 827 into park - oh how I laughed as he peeled his face from the windscreen.
This one has the handbrake on, though... My point was more in relation to the cigar lighter being placed in the only place you couldn't keep it when driving - see below.

That's what I was hoping to check and learn from - my experience being 2 C1s with it on the caps and buying a wheel from a breaking C2 as a spare which had it on the spokes. Thanks for educating me - I thought it might have been coincidence.

My point being it's a common way of doing pictures to show never smoked in "It's not even in the lighter socket!"
This was just a bad choice on the seller's part. Clean ashtrays are much better places to show it.

Maybe sounds a bit snotty (and isn't meant that way) but when was the last time you parked up to charge your phone in the car? (and also put the lighter in about the only place that it would prevent you from driving off)

C1 or C2

So I've been looking at a few adds for the Cougar and can't understand why they are priced so err ...well cheap Please don't get me wrong underpriced is the better word......Why?....
I know I'm just discovering novice like about this handsome motor...full leather...Cleveland V6 engine so plenty of grunt..2 door coup'e style but with a really practical tailgated load area..no tiny suitcase boot..[emoji1]
Which are the most popular colour with these Cougar's... I currently have a Panther Black Mondog and my preference would be something different to that.. Black is about the nicest colour for a Mondog, but it's alot of hard work..you can spend all day washing and waxing her just to go out and 10 miles later it's not looking like you spent all day on it..[emoji1] [emoji1] ...
Silver looks good...my first mk3..a Mondog estate was stardust silver and I liked the fact it seemed to not show the dirt the same...a 10 mile blast after the all day valet and she still looked just washed & waxed..

Back in track..which model is better C1 or C2...what are the differences.. do they have electric seat adjustment and are they heated.. leather can feel uninviting in the colder months..also do these handsome beasts have the heated front screen with heated wash jet.?
Do you get abs and maybe traction on the V6 model (this is the engine I'd like) though I'm undecided on wether I should go manual or auto..
From the adds I've seen I'd definitely like the sunroof..though I believe that these are rarish..
What does" X pack"mean?..

Sorry for getting long winded but just trying to get a few facts into this big old head of mine..the main fact is these Cougar's are a bargain in my opinion..the paintwork seems to hold well too.
How many of these are still on the roads...I've heard they can rust underneath but I've yet to see one with any rust showing on the bodywork??
Any replies very much appreciated..
And thanks for looking[emoji39]

Differences between C1 and C2 are here:

https://forums.ukcougar.club/threads/8086-Whats-the-difference-between-me-and-you-C1-or-C2

About 11000 C1's and 400 C2's where registered in the UK of which there are about 3000 remaining on the roads.

The X Pack is only available on the V6 and consists of heated leather seats with electric adjust on the driver's side and a six shot cd changer mounted in the boot.

ABS with traction is standard on the V6.

The electric sunroof(early ones with plastic runners are problematic) and the heated fronts screen with heated washer jets are factory options.
Retro-fit of the screen and jets is quite straightforward.

Auto was only an option on the V6.

Black was the only solid colour whilst the metallics were a cost option, black is therefore likely the most common. Metallics were a no-cost option on possibly x-pack models?
Looks like there was more colour choice in the US than the four available in Europe.

Where any painted yellow as like the milenium yellow foccys and pumas??.Melina blue does look very good when polished up..seems the blue and black are appealing, though silver looks good as it shows off the lines nicely...I think Green might be the rarest... Ive had a jewel green foccy in the past..my dad hated the colour, said it's unlucky...Three times in 3 years it went into the body shop for damage by a motorbike falling on it...rear ended at tescos by a Ford escort.. and then clunked by a hackney 3 yrs on the trot...but I did love the colour and although you see lots of foccys...mk1.5 in jewel green is rare....
so I'd probably have it in that as it is one of my favourite colours...

There were more colours available in Continental Europe than there were in the UK.

Zinc yellow was available in the States but not here.

The two greens available here were Tourmaline followed by Amazon.

So only 4 colours!!...I suppose that helps with choosiness...didn't know the black was solid...thought it would of been the same as the metallic black on the mk3 Mondog...so black is the most popular Cougar colour or what...I thought the silver would of been the most popular...
There's not a bad colour amongst them thankfully which is most helpful....

Yes they all look good, and Cougars are we know (currently) very good value for money.
Like any used car, choose carefully, and the advice on what to look out for on the Forum, is invaluable.
In my opinion low mileage ones are starting to go up in value, now is the time to buy!
But whatever you choose have some fun! And this is the place to be to help keep a Coug on the road........

Still looking for a UK 'Red' Cougar, there are a few out there !

If this is the case that there are a handful of red Cougar's that's going to help them keep their value better perhaps....
I've just got to wait for the right Cougar to come along that's had an owner who's spent time and money and maybe some love keeping it as it should be .... looking for a new home....I've got a grand to play with so hopefully that might get me one....hopeful also that I will have see if my present insurer can cut me a two car deal...
Thanks for the reply Will..

Mac.

I doubt that colour is going to make much difference to value unless you could get your hands on one of the factory limited edition yellow ones though that would be a left hooker if you managed to find one and with your budget I don't think importing is an option  mileage also isn't as big a factor as you may think, indeed I would rather have a cougar with 100,000 on the clock than one with 32000 as all the seals in the engine would have been well lubricated over the miles where the low mileage car has been sat unused which could have allowed seals to weaken, dry out and crack. Take your time and look for a Cougar that is solid, from experience 2000 seems to be a year when Ford did something slightly different with regards to protecting against rust, I have had 6 cougars now and the 2000 year models seem to have escaped the little brown nemesis

Two different greens..so C1 Cougar's are tourmaline green, and the C2 Amazon..I do like green, but must say these Cougar's look good in blue...very subjective is colour...silver really show the cars lines of really well :)
I'd be happy no matter what the colour..:)
