F2EEMAN (alex) kindly mocked up a few pics of a scoop that i like. Massive thanks (y)
At first i thought i would have to have one but now custom engine are mounts being made the coug wont actually need one. But i want one for looks and a functional vent (mainly looks)

So please pass on any thoughts, opinions on any scoops u have seen been used on a coug that looked good or you think would look good.
Also opinions on the 2 pics below that Alex did for me, same vent but different sizes.

Thanks in advance

Think I prefer the bigger one actually, more agressive to suit the new engine!

no problems mate, not perfect but was my pleasure :)

Second one looks too big and daft..how about a copy of the Cougar S one?

I do like the cougar s one but i think its a bit too subtle, tbh i cant see the air getting in that far back would benefit the engine or cold air for filter..... educate me someone if im wrong??

As stated in first post i dont have to have one as new mounts will make engine sit lower anyway, but i like to be a bit different and want some sort of way to cool engine slightly.

I do like both pics tbh. as u said steve "smaller is more subtle" and would follow standard lines of bonnet too.
and larger as u say Alex "looks more aggressive"
Si- yeah im after totally honest unbiased opinions, i no everone has a unique taste so wanted to see and hear others thoughts

I think I prefer the Cougar S style as well tbh. You could use a modified X-Type air box with the '220 engine and get cold air from the front grille instead:

You know funny enough there is a feature on a 4x4 focus Rs in Fastford and some div has used a picture of the engine and transmission from an x-type for some reason.
Why not vent the bonnet instead of fitting a scoop?

Out the vents/scoops ive seen for the coug. Only one that I can say actually suits the car is the visteon one. Not liking either of the photoshopped ones tbh.

Without getting too far off topic, Visteon built the X-Type transfer gearbox and rear differential. The transfer gearbox was itself shares some DNA with the older Ford 4x4 transverse installations, so the mag was possibly closer to the truth than they realised

The MTX-75 part of it is virtually the same, other than that the differential is mounted on bearings with the crown gear just like in the Cougar, but is otherwise not actually connected to it (so you can spin the crown gear around the diff). The O/S/F driveshaft runs inside a tube. The tube is driven by the MTX-75 crown gear, and drives a planetary gearbox in the transfer case. The ring gear round the outside of the planets takes 61% of the torque and drives the propshaft to the rear diff. The sun gear in the middle absorbs the other 39% of the torque and drives the differential in the MTX-75, driving the N/S/F wheel via the same driveshaft as the Cougar has and the O/S/F wheel via the shaft running inside the tube which drives the transfer box. Cool huh?

You took the words right out of my mouth Jamie...

Aye, back on topic! For what it's worth, I don't like either (nor am I a fan of the Visteon scoops) but if one were a necessity I'd pick the first. The first set of vents that Jamie linked to would look pretty good, methinks.

Are you going for the Getrag 6 or the MTX75 out of interest? How much are you lowering the engine by to make it fit?

The gearbox is staying as standard mtx75..?
Im not sure how much its being lowered, its not much. Im leaving the mechanics sort all that at porschetech as they have donr alot of engine conversions and do know what they're doing.

Why not vent the bonnet instead of fitting a scoop?

This is in my mind aswell, looking into alot of ideas of what to finally go with. dont want to jump ahead and then see something that i like more.

I too am not really a fan of the visteon scoop and think it would be difficult to get it to be functional aswell.
Yeah i do like both the vents linked! (y)
