Brake pads confusion!

Hi

I'm looking to buy new brake pads for both front and rear (and discs probably too). Looking at this website for example, http://www.rockauto.co.uk/catalog/raframecatalog.php?catalog=906&partnum=E4942, there seem to be different ones listed, with and without wear indicators, and it isn't obvious whether you get a complete axle set in some cases or just one side (the Ferodo ones seem vague, but Delphi is more explicit).

Can anyone give me a bit of guidance on pads? I don't think I need wear indicators; should I be able to tell without taking my wheels off? I've got a C2, 2001, 2.5L Auto.

Would these be the right ones for the back?

I think the C2 doesn't have the wear indicator on the overhead console so you need pads without wires?

Rears are the same for all Cougars.

Thanks for that. I thought that may be the case with the wear indicators; my car only has 5 indicators in the overhead console so...

Presumably the pads are the same, other than the wear indicators so, if I got ones with wear indicators (for some reason - e.g. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cougar-25...arts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f28114122) I could just cut them off. Does that make sense?

Yep just snip them off, that's damn cheap for a full set of four, bit too cheap for me.

Yes, you can just cut the wires off.

I know what you mean. Problem is I need new shocks all round too, and a couple of front tyres, all at the same time so as long as they're adequate for a while....

They're always cheaper with the sensor wires, so buy them anyway.
