Have noticed most c1 alloys have the word Cougar on the centre cap but have also seen a few with plain centre caps and the word cougar on one of the alloy spokes. What is the difference here? I'd like to get a set of plain centre caps for my alloys to replace the ones with Cougar on them.

some came with the decal saying cougar, some didn't.

some came with the ford logo embossed. Some didn't.

Remember, they are a Ford product, so there is probably no actual good reason for it.

there is probably an explanation somewhere, and maybe someone far more educated than I will come along....however, the stickers were probably an option at a cost of about £300

The very early ones had the Cougar on the spoke of the alloy, next came the ones with Cougar on the cover and finally the ones with the embossed Ford logo so it's an age related thing.
I would imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to remove the sticker from the cover if you wanted the blank look.

If the plain Ford centre cap came in last ( I have them on mine) it will probably be down to either the original tools were worn out so possibly cheaper design was introduced or maybe they also fit other Ford vehicles and they decided to commonize to save costs.
