So. I'm trying to get my headlights as new looking as possible. So far just tried a basic kit. On my old passat I actually got good results with toothpaste! How much more work you think I've got to get an albeit 15 year old set of headlights to their peak?

Toothpaste will only get you so far. After all, it's designed to gently scrub your teeth.

I strongly recommend the Meguiars headlight restoration kit. It has sanding pads, (which you may or may not need to use) as well as a compounding gel and a lambswool buffer.

The approach you take will entirely depend on their current condition.
