I see the 12 have now been chosen. I do have a question about the first 4 pictures in the competition.
Why and where have these pictures come from ?
I do not remember seeing either of them entered in any of the months and if I remember correctly the first 2 months were to be chosen from some of the other cars that were entered into the competition.

One of these cars the owner of it is not a member now, has changed hands a few times and has been scrapped / broken.

2 of them have long been broken / scrapped.

I thought you had to be a fully paid up member and it had to be your car that was entered ?

I can understand why Matt's car is in there and I get that fully.

An explanation would be nice please.

Cheers.

Peter, the calendar competition didn't start until May so we needed to find some photos to fill the earlier months. We thought Cougars that had been special in their time would fit the bill.

Rules are rules Andy, why should cars that were not entered into the competition not be used ?
There are some cracking club cars that are still around and still owned by paying members that should be in this calender instead of cars that are now just a memory to most people.

There was a big debate not so long ago about all this when Terry posted up a picture of his car and it was taken down by mistake. Also would it not be nice to have a public vote for the first 4 months just like all the other months that have taken place. Surely it should be the members voting for these 4 months as well ?

Peter, I agree that there are some beautiful cars about, some of which didn't make it into the competition.

But I'm fairly certain that most of them will be around in January, when the next competition begins. Andy's explanation for this year's anomalies was entirely reasonable. And I say that as someone whose car wasn't even considered (nor should she be, the battered old tart that she is).

Totally disagree, there are some legendary club Cougars that are no longer in one pice but still were a big part of this club. Just because they don't exist any more and the owners are no longer paying members, doesn't mean they shouldn't be part of the calendar. If it's going to be club cars of paying members only it's going to be the same calendar over and over!

Chris, this is not the point at all. The cars should be chosen from cars that were entered into the competition, not cars that are now either sold on or in a scrap yard.

John, the rules state that you must be a fully paid up member and it must be your car that you are entering. I don't think cars that are now long gone should be in it or you could have quite easily filled it with 12 cars from the past and not even bothered with the competition.

The competition, with it's associated rules, didn't start until May.
Nobody was asked to submit or vote on photos before then.
We could of opted to choose existing cars for the other months but that would have made the competition pointless.
By choosing 'iconic' cars for 3 of the remaining months the intention was to remain 'neutral'.
I hope I don't have to explain the entry for March.

Nothing was mentioned when it all started that 3 "iconic" cars would be chosen for the first 3 months.
The first 3 months could have been thrown open to a vote just like every other month was.

I have already said I totally get it with regards to Matt's car and I fully respect why it is in the calender.

Okay. I tried playing this with humour, but it didn't work.

The fact is that the competition started mid-way through the year. Because of this, Al (and the rest of the mods) decided that the months that weren't covered by the votes would be filled by cars that may no longer exist or were owned by people who are no longer members. It gave us a good start and allowed us to remember people or vehicles who are no longer around.

That's entirely reasonable. So it makes me wonder what your objection to it is. To put it another way, what do you want to happen?

Photos that were entered and did not win the vote should not be in the calendar, pure and simple. Iconic cars for the remaining three months will make it fair.

The first post regarding the competition was made on the 7th May where it was stated:

Since we are starting this selection process 4 months in, we will randomly select 4 other cars to be in the calendar next year for Jan/Feb/March?April.

The three cars you are questioning Peter were owned by three people who are still 'paid-up' members of the forum.

Chris, I am not trying to humour anyone here. It is just my point of view that is all.
I have already said that I feel personally that the first 4 months ( with Matt's car is an understandable exception ) could have been thrown open to a vote using pictures of cars that have already been entered that were not winners.
Maybe I am wrong, but it is just my opinion that's all. Not trying to offend anyone here.

So if we are talking about iconic cars then, why is Thundercat not in it then, as most would say that is the most iconic car that was ever created in the UK by far ?
V6NOS featured twice in one way or another.

So what you are saying is that ( we ) the admin / mods team will pick the remaining 4 months ?
If this is correct then not much else to say really.
You answered my question.
Thanks Andy for the explanation.

None taken. It's just that you feel an injustice has been done, and I'm curious about why you think that's the case, what we should do about it, and how it would affect you peronally.

Did you ever see that car in person?

Thundercat was destined for the cover but we couldn't find a photo that would do the car justice.

(If anyone can find one then please let us know asap as time to get this finished is slipping by.)

I just asked a question that is all to which I got the answer to. I have a different opinion to the answer given but that is life. I am not one to shy away from things and I will ask questions if I think something could have been done differently. So it is not about an injustice or that it will affect me personally because neither could be even close to the truth. It is just my opinion that is all and as a member of the club I should be aloud to voice it in a constructive manor.
I have the answer to my question now as provided by Andy. I might not agree with it, but at least I know why now.

I did not get the pleasure of ever seeing Thundercat, but I did read enough about it and seen enough pictures of it to see why it should be regarded as an iconic car seen as it pushed the bounders of what could be done to the Cougar. No one has ever put so much into a Cougar as to what went into that car and I doubt very much anyone ever will again.

Without wanting to offend anyone. This thread is BS! The competition has started and now it is finished. All attempts to get members to either enter their cars, or even vote etc were made clear at day #1. The "extra" cars were chosen and that is final. It is far too late in the year to open a discussion of what I/we/you/them/uswho etc etc and why if but etc etc. I've just spent yet another 1.5 hours of my "FREETIME" compiling a calendar for any member who might be interested in buying one, weather his/her car is in there or not, it's your choice, nobody is forcing anybody to do anything. I yet have the task of hoping every entrant can email me their original hi-res images for upload to the calendar, then maybe, just maybe by the end of the week, i can actually offer the finished calendars for sale.

Anything else!

Not really Alan, all questions have been answered in my opinion. Thanks for your efforts with the club calender.
