While in the process of breaking my Ebony C1, I removed the exhaust to save the twin tail pipe section then got to thinking about the catalytic converter..... looking at mine it would appear that it is an original fitting so I tried to find some identification marks but it is too rusty to see any, is there a way to identify it via the reg number? Just enquiring to see if it is worth anything more than scrap value basically, seeing as there seems to be more value in them, as apposed to normal scrap value.... ....(y)

Definitely worth more in scrap by taking it somewhere. When I scrapped a couple of my cars recently I left it on though cause the overall price for the shell was better with it in place

It's because they have 'precious metals' in them which are worth more than steel - stuff like copper and platinum are higher in scrap to a specialist but like with all scrap you tend to get a better price the more you weigh in

Think very carefully before you walk into a scrap merchat's with a cat under your arm.

Thefts of them are rife at the moment, and any decent scrapper is going to ask very pointed questions about its provenance. And maybe even call the police.

Good advice Chris, I have the log book and the rest of the exhaust so should be ok.... (y)
