Common MOT failure, per car.

Meaningless.
Without segregation by year, it's lumping 1976 Fiestas in with 2016 Fiestas, 1996 Ka with 2016 Ka, but obviously those are very different vehicles - as different as a Fiat 500 is from a Jaguar XJS.

The causes of the failures is very interesting, too.

"According to the DVSA MOT data, the most common reasons for a Peugeot 206 to fail include: the nearside front tyre tread depth being below the 1.6mm requirement."

That says less about the car, and more about the people that own them (and possibly, where and how those cars are driven).

"Parking brake: efficiency below requirements (3.7.B.7)"

Obviously no Cougar has ever failed for that reason of course. LOL

Parking brake and front lamps for ford cougar. All my cougars have had parking brake fails and my current one failed on headlights last year🤣
I'm gonna guess the rear subframe is another popular coog fail too👀

So if you believe that they seldom fail on rear subby !

Agree 100% Mako. You gotta check the lights at least !

Tiger's first MOT under my ownership was a fail partly because of her sidelights. Too dim. Standard lights, standard bulbs. Literally passed type approval to be sold in the UK. But failed.

Turned out that the tester was doing everything he could to fail her just so he could offer to buy her. "Look - I'll give you £200. Just leave it here."

I told him I'd be driving her home and scrapping her on my own time and he was furious. Tried to tell me that I couldn't drive her on the road and that I had to leave her. Tried to keep my keys (I had both sets with me which frustrated him even further).

Got tested elsewhere, passed, and ran that car for another six years until she rotted too far from the inside of the framerails.

But I did learn that headlight modification on the Coug is a thing.
