Cougar V6 auto

Ive got a question my Cougar V6 auto the automatic gearbox is very hard to get in reverse when its cold it feels like the gearbox is going to break when its warm its fine ive checked the oil and its fine any ideas.

I don't know if the Cougar box has a solenoid for switching gears, could be that?? Failing that my guess would be torque converter issue? When was the oil last drained and replaced?

Don't know ive only had the car a couple of months is the oil hard to change

I've never done one. In guessing there's a drain plug on the under side of the box and a full point or fill through the dipstick tube. Best off looking through the auto how to's etc or maybe someone who's done it will see this.

take dipstick out and turn car upside down 'til empty
