Cougar V6 & Jag X-Type V6 Comparison video

I've seen that Cougar driving around somewhere or other, think I've even parked next to it once, but for the life of me can't remember where

And I can vouch for the fact these things will, when healthy, without a single modification reach 140 with ease

I much prefer my Cougar to my four wheel drive X-type Jaguar as it is more comfortable and a pleasure to drive and purrs effortlessly down the motorway at 70 mph. I fell in love with its good looks (before it had its Hitler moustache of a number plate on) I like its lines and its back end has as much more interesting and distinctive design than the rears of most jelly-mould cars that appeared from then on. I will be selling the X-type before ever thinking of selling that Cougar. Although I do like the lines and drive of my Jaguar XJ8. The XJ8 was made in the days when Jaguars were properly made before being taken over by Fords so does not corrode underneath in the way that the later Jaguars, including the X-type do.

I can get far more in the Cougar. Indeed, with its back seats down far more in it that I could in the X-type Jaguar estate I had. I can get two bicycles inside the Cougar (with the back seats down) and it took so many boxes of contents that I only needed to tent a van twice to move the large furniture of a 4-bedroomed house.

My old Girl Guide captain was well over 80 and frequently went in the back of the Cougar whenever I had other passengers. She got the knack of getting in and out of the back and did not complain of any discomfort even on the long journeys we used to take from Surrey to North Yorkshire.

I referred to my X-type Jaguar estate as "the green sled" - for good reason. I used to leave it in the garage and use one of my other cars when there was snow or ice about.

You perhaps made a mistake there Carolyn, the 4wd system on the X type is great in the snow lol i believe it was tested by Mr Power himself on Top Gear (I may be wrong tho lol) and as for the 4wd Cougar I drove just wow (Marks old one) but even my 2wd diseasal is great in the snow and ice, love the 'Green Sled' reference tho hahaha (PS yes agreed on the XJ's, proper Jaaaaaaaaaaags lol)

I’d love an XJ8, love the shape. Shame they cheaped out on rear arch liners which is why most rot around the rear arches and Rsend.
Still want one though.

My XJ8 only has around 30K miles on the clock. It was the previous owners "Sunday car". It had only done 20K miles when I bought it off him shortly before he died.

I'm a big X-Type fan.....had a 2.5 Sport estate (manual) which sadly fell apart underneath and now own a late 2.2 SE diesel auto estate... It ticks most boxes despite being occasionally frustrating with its quirks!
My current one is starting to get a long in the tooth but I'd get another one😁
