double din dilema

well as most will know i no longer have the beemer either and have a megane now,when i got the megane the previous owner got halfords to butcher the stereo apperture to intstall a jvc double din head unit doing away with the original renault single din cd player and storage bin,i wanted to install parrot handsfree but there was nowhere suitable for this so i thought i will go down the alpine route again with the built in parrot to save the hassle.anyway bought the stereo and went to fit it along with the original storage pocket and couldnt fathom out why it wouldnt fit

and removed to show the butchery of halfords,they cut all the plastic tabs that secure the storage bin and stereo in place and the cross bar

this is an aftermarket surround where i have added an internal frame to hold the new drinks holder/storage drawer and so i can secure the stereo cage in,had to glue the new frame

and now glued in place,the wire is for direct ipod/iphone connection to the head unit

Looks a good job done there. My only question is why did you not put the drinks holder on the bottom instead ?
As when you are using it you will not be able to get access to your radio ?
Or does it not work like that on these cars ?

there is already 2 drinks holders built into the lower centre console but are in use for other things,when the drinks holder is pulled out the gearstick hits of it so thats the only way round it,i just wanted something other than a storage pocket as i can use the top drawer for ipod or iphone

it had to paul,i was going to leave the jvc in and add a parrot kit but there is no where suitable to mount it,but the bulit in one in the stereo works a treat even with the roof down
