o/s shaft on a auto cougar are manual same shaft and if possible can the idler bearing be changed or is it a new shaft thanks

Auto and manual shafts are different...not sure about the idler bearing!

The idler bearing sits at the top rear of the serpentine belt above the alternator, if you mean the driveshaft centre bearing then that is a new intermediate driveshaft job as the rubber is moulded onto the driveshaft
