Can anyone help, is replacing rear offside shocker, a big job. what is required tools wise and how many other parts are required to remove to do the job.

Look forward to hearing from you soon. Grahame

New shock obviously or a rebuilt one
A basic socket set preferably 1/2 inch
Plus gas or wd40
Spring compressors
Axle stands
A big hammer

Jack car
Fit axle stand
Remove wheel
Remove pinch bolt
I think you can get away with leaving the brakes in situ but its been a while since ive done one
Plus gas top of hub where the leg goes into it
Whack hub to seperate the leg
Remove two 10mm bolts in top of wheel arch
The leg will now drop out
Compress the spring and undo top bolt
Swap leg and reverse the procedure

If one side has gone the other is not far behind so I would always swap them in pairs

Be very careful when compressing the spring and if your not confident get someone else to do it as the spring under tension has the capacity to easily take fingers off or even kill you.

You could always get the legs off and run them to a garage to swap them over using their compressors if your not confident

There is a photographic How-To for fitting lowering springs in the subscriber section. It's the same destruct/construct job that you need to do, except the new bit is the damper rather than the spring. It also lists the required socket sizes etc.

rears are easy to do, when i fitted lowering springs it took me less than 2 hours to disassemble and reassemble both rear struts. didnt need spring compressors, i did however lace the springs up with cable to prevent any sudden movement while undoing top nuts.
