Hi All, I've had my v6 now about 4 months and i love it. Its not as nippy as i expected i have to be honest, in fact id say the same as my 2.0 Lexus so was a little dissappointed but hey ho. The 2 issues i have are below and would love if somebody could help.

1) i had a brake light go out recently, i changed it and now (not sure if it did this before i cant rememebr) when i start car the buld warning light stays on until i press brake and then it goes off. is this normal?

2) i wheel span the other day and now my ABS and Handbrake lights wont go off. Doesnt seem to be anything wrong but they wont go off. Any ideas?

3) if there is anything that may need changing to increase performance a little id love to know. only OEM though, no mods.

1 = yes that's normal

2 = check the abs ring on the front wheels and also check the abs sensors are fully connected behind the splash shield

3 = only modification will give you more performance, as far as OEM goes give the engine a service, new plugs, new oil and replace air filter, also check your coolant is still good

As Paul says but you could also add a set of new plug leads which wouldn't do any harm.
Forgot about them lol OEM are the best ones to get, all these multi point firing cosmetically wrapped performance ones are actually worse. the OEM ones from Motorcraft or Bosch were designed to provide just the right amount of spark to the Motorcraft Spark plugs at just the right time to increase longevity of the performance arc. Millions are spent by the manufacturers in liaison with Ford to build the best possible parts for the job and the V6 Duratec engine is extremely fussy when it comes to plugs (y)

Good Old Italian-Tune up works wonders.

Needs smashing hard against the limiter occasionally in 1/2/3/(4) gears, These are really lazy engines and need a bit of carefully metered out abuse to keep them at their best.

Mollycoddled, gently driven engines lose MPG and just come up over time. Smash the s*it out of it for a day and see if matters. improve.
