Hey guys. It's me again. Right, I'm determined to get that cat...soooo, I'm off to look at another tomorrow. There is one thing I need to know though; the current owner says he had a clicking coming from the ABS when he got the car, so to fix it, he had the brakes replaced all around; along with the front hubs (his words). Now, apparently the clicking is gone, but he says that the ABS light is on because the; and I quote "hubs weren't ones with ABS rings on them".

My question is, is this possible - I mean, are the ABS rings on the front hubs themselves?

I'm confuzzled as I'm now unsure as to even bother going to have a look.

Cheers in advance guys,

Noel

Front ABS castle rings are on the CV joint, the sensor is in the hub carrier. It is possible to change the hub without touching any of the abs components.

This should also be in the relevant problems section.

Hmm, that's what I thought. Thanks PID. In your opinion, do you think that the sensors were just damaged in the change?

And apologies for posting this here!

Sounds like a lot of hassle you don't need with a new car.
By all means go and look at it but his diagnosis of the ABS fault is suspect.
If it's the pump that's at fault it will be very expansive to fix.

Take your time and wait for a fault free example.

I agree with FlamencoAssassin, wait for a fault free example, there are plenty out there for such a rare car. ABS sensors are prone to damage when bearings or CV's are being changed, infact any work around the hub needs care, even changing brake pads as the sensor is very close to all the components.

Hi Peter,

Thanks for that. Yes I have mate! He emailed me this morning and is up for a meet - I'm not too fussed about the ST-200 bits as the car looks pretty good as it is. I've emailed him back and now awaiting a reply. All good as he's gotten rid of the fried eggs too! LOL. Fingers crossed.

Nice one Noel, I think if you can get it for that kind of money then you are doing very well, it does look in good nick + all the parts he has already fitted are well worth the money + if you are not bothered about the ST200 bits then it is all good.
I think he would take £600 for it easy mate as he has a make an offer option on ebay. I would go and see it with the money in your hand, you will get it for £600 that way.
Good luck with it and if you need a hand at all let me know.

Will do mate. Thanks again! It might not be for a couple of weeks as he's busy this weekend and I need to wait for my insurance direct debit to come out otherwise they tag it on if I make changes within 10 days prior to it coming out! Anyway, I've arranged to meet him next Sunday to have a looksee and a chat.
