has anybody had any experience with a 'straight-cut' g/box for the Cougar??

Its a gearbox that whines like the devil but is virtually bomb proof

Yep had one in a pinto powered mkII escort bugger to change gear too to start with till you're used to them but mine took 13,000 miles of dumped clutch standing starts and drifting pretty much everywhere.

Wouldn't have one again In a road car and you would need mammoth power to make it worthwhile 350+bhp otherwise why bother it's overkill.

I was under the impression that Thundercats one was half cut lol ie not a full straight cut box, so should be more durable

I thought Thundercat just had a Quaife LSD just like Dave's (dyg). Is that the same thing?

Yes it has Quaife LSD, but i was told it has half cut gears, so dunno, sure we'll find out soon enough
