haynes manual for the cougar

So that raises another question then.... why isn't there a manual for the cougar.... is this a case of Ford trying to forget about "our favourite" car....:rolleyes:
 
I think it would be more the case of Haynes would know that only selling 12000 Cougars the demand for a service manual would be very low compared to the millions of say Mondeo's, Focus, Fiesta's that sell and demand for those manuals would be very high.
I will say the MK2 Mondeo one is a good purchase as many of the bits in it are very useful for maintaining a Cougar.

As far as I know, Ford don't make the decision about what cars Haynes pull apart and document. There might be a relationship between Haynes and the manufacturers, but I don't think it goes that far.

More likely, Haynes looked at the volume of Cougar sales, saw the inevitable decline (and predicted the probable cancellation of the model), judged the likely owner profile at the time as not being folks that do their own work, and decided that it wasn't worth the cost of production and printing. Besides, most of what you might need a Haynes for on a Cougar is - as Dandamano says - covered by the Mondeo one.

For what it's worth, the same is true of the Rover Tomcat. Ain't no Haynes for that, but 3399 gives you 90% of what you need.

Agree with you about the club.... (y) BUT... it's nice to have the book at your disposal to reference somethings.... don't think most people would appreciate being asked questions at stupid oclock or having to wait for a reply from the board....:rolleyes:...:LOL:
 
Got a mk2 Mongy manual for £3 from a charity shop, work shop manual sales have slumped in recent years as cars become ever more electronic and less home mechanic friendly.
