Yesterday I helped my friend next door.....his Escort cabriolet had failed its mot

1st was the hand brake to much travel, ok so tried adjusting cable near hand brake, no go already been adjusted as far as it could go said he more than likely would need to change the rear shoes

2nd was a defective rear brakehose purchased from breakers in good condition

3rd was a worn steering ball joint purchased from a local breakers in good condition

4th was a split cv gaitor..new one purchased.

So fitted new rear brake shoes & 1 x brake hose....bleed brakes

Fitted steering ball joint.....spanners were trying to mash the nut so heated it up with my plumbing torch gun...sorted

Fitted CV Gaitor.....removed wishbone from bottom of hub...wish it was as easy as that on a cougar...pulled hub of drive shaft with a puller....removed old gaitor...cleaned up cv joint of grease....found cerclip opened up & dismantled part of drive shaft ...difficult but do able.....fitted new gaitor & grease, reassembled shaft & cable tied gaitor tight.......refitted hub wishbone & steering arm

All wheels back on took for a test drive

All sorted.........soaked to the skin & covered in grease/oil

one happy friend just needs to sort out his blown back box & take back to get mot ticket

Fingers Crossed

Nice one Bob, you are indeed a very good friend, especially considering getting soaked in this lovely weather. Well done you.
