Hi all
Had my cougar for 2 years now, replaced my old Mk2 1.8 Mondeo. And I looove it.
It's a 2.5 standard manual (no X-pack for me
) 2000 year model in silver frost. Basically sound, it had a new clutch not long before I bought it.
Since buying it's had over the last 2 years;
To do's
When my post count is high enough I'll drop a photo in.
What I like;
What I don't like;
I must admit I 'drive like a poof' most of the time and get 31 - 32 mpg and I even had 39.5 on a weekend run from B'ham to Wales recently. But I'm no boy racer . .
Cheers, looking forward to learning more from all you guys (& gals?)

Had my cougar for 2 years now, replaced my old Mk2 1.8 Mondeo. And I looove it.
It's a 2.5 standard manual (no X-pack for me
Since buying it's had over the last 2 years;
- new handbrake cable (old one was getting frozen stuck)
- front suspension arms replaced
- all round discs and pads
- steering rack reconditioned
- alternator
- I also mounted the number plate directly on the front bumper, doing away with the mounting plate
To do's
- I have a leak in the boot and a creaking front offside wheel
- I also have occasional foghorn sound (moosing?) but I'm not overly worried about it
- I used to get the flickering lights but I haven't noticed it since the alternator was changed
- Some minor cosmetic mods I want to do (I want a couple of cat logo window stickers, anyone tell me where I can get them ?) and I'm going to fit the clear indicators and the cat logo badges on the grille and boot. Anyone tell me the best way to pull the old badges off without damaging any paint ?
When my post count is high enough I'll drop a photo in.
What I like;
- The engine sound especially as it climbs past 3000 rpm (I tend to drive with the windows open a bit) it's a lovely growling sound
- I can scare my missus in it
What I don't like;
- I miss my sunroof
- the corroding black trim above the doors
I must admit I 'drive like a poof' most of the time and get 31 - 32 mpg and I even had 39.5 on a weekend run from B'ham to Wales recently. But I'm no boy racer . .
