Ok, finally got up the courage to do the brakes this weekend only to find all was ok with them and they have plenty of life left yet.
When I got to the front passenger, and as I was about to put the wheel back on, I seen it was badly buckled on the inside, no doubt the cause of my car judder at higher speeds that I'd been suffering.
I have to admit at this stage I did give it a belt or two before putting it back on, in the hope some of that judder may dissappear, thats what you do when you don't know any better, anyway, that cracked the alloy(didn't notice it at the time) and caused the tyre to puncture, the guy down our tyre place said there is no point in fixing it as it would go down right away.
Now to make matters worse i have to put it through an MoT this week and so a new set of wheels have to be got.
I can only hope things can get better, I've only had it 3 weeks.
