When Autoglass and National Windscreens have done my windscreens (and believe me I've had a lot of them!

) all they used was a very long stanley blade. With the blade almost parallel to the glass, they just cut the bonding from the inside, going round and round until the glass breaks free. Then lift gently out and cut and clean away the excess bonding that remains ready for the new bond.
No need for bike cables and the last thing you want to do is apply pressure on the glass.
Applying pressure will stress it and break it, and if it breaks free when applying pressure the glass will just end up shattered on the floor.
Be gentle slow and patient.
