Just thought I should give you all a warning. Kerbs and cars don't play well together. I found this out earlier today. Not happy, but hey, it could have been alot worse.
Lost the back end on a right hand bend, hit the kerb sideways with the N/S rear wheel. Alloy is damaged and is sitting at a stupid angle and have bent the rear hub and rear arm. Nothing else is noticable upon inspection. Im hoping the rear hub and rear arm are the same as a MK2 mondy as I know where there is a few sat waiting to be broken.
Mondeo mk2 parts are identical to ours, so you might as well get both rear suspension arms. The hub itself will most probably be undamaged unless it took a direct hit. Oh, and in future, SLOW DOWN!
Thats good to know that mondy parts are the same Al, had it checked at a local garage just after I done it and they said hub was bent too. Wasn't even going that fast, maybe 35-40 at most.
Yep that'll do it Colin, Basically then, you need to undo a couple of bolts. Pinch bolt at the hub/strut, and the two inner arm bolts to the subframe. This will get you the arms and hub complete, obviously you need to disconnect brake and sensor components.
Ouch! Hope you get it sorted Colin. How did you lose the rear end? was there something greasy on the road surface? as usually the Coug is pretty good into corners. Anyway, hope you get it fixed without too much cost.
Unsure really, think there must have been oil or diesel on the road, cant see why else I would have lost it. Just been and had the car rechecked at another garage and only thing damaged is the rear suspension arm and my alloy.
