Does anyone know if you can still get universal lamp brackets to fit to plastic bumpers.
I haven't got any pics, but basically the ones I used the last time I put any spotlamps on were rectangular pieces of plastic, fixed with self tappers and double sided tape, with an adjustable balljoint thingy in the middle to mount the lamp to.
I can't find any anywhere and i can't think of anything better for what i want to do:(

If your thinking of the old "club badge bar" or rally type for cibbies type thing, i would look at classic car forums etc, or even ebay? If it is this type of bar though, only my opinion but i think it'd look out of place on a cougar bumper.

Don't worry Al, I'm hoping to get the brackets hidden away on the underside of the top half of the bumper if you see what I mean, so the lamps will sit just inside where the original fogs go.

Matt I've had a look on Halfords website as I'm sure that's where I got mine from, but as it was ten years or more ago it might be worth me ringing them to see if any old stock kicking around:)

They're not mate, but it looks like they might do the job.
I need to have a measure up this weekend so I both get the right lamps and see how much room there is for bracketry:)

I can't help but think that perforated angle iron would work for this. You could stabilise it with L-shaped aluminium strip bonded to the bumper.

That sounds good to me mate - I guess it's just a matter of getting some materials and a bit of trial and error.
I just fancy something a bit different - I might go for a wood trim kit for the inside too.

We rightly joke about wood screws and the like being used to secure trim or panels, but I can't really see the benefit of a mild steel powder-coated purpose-made-and-expensive bracket versus a stainless bracket intended for outside construction, when you'll never really see either of them.

There's bodging, and then there's creativity. ;)

Do you mean Rover-style, with burr walnut? That would certainly be individual. Can't picture where you would put it though, or how you'd carry it through the car as an accent (unless you're being very, very dryly sarcastic, in which case...you got me ;) ).

Cheers Steve - I was certain I was going to be the first to want this until I searched the forum........

That's why I like the pre-cut pieces - no dismantling means no balls-ups (he hopes!)

Good luck!

I enjoy doing this sort of stuff so if you need any help and you think you might be around this way, give me a shout.
