LED bulbs

If you have the 7 light overhead warning panel (with bulb failure warning) you'll need LED's with resistors or the 'no error' type.
If you have the 5 light overhead warning (or Zetec which doesn't have the overhead warning panel) you'll be ok with normal LED's.

I used some LED's without resistors on the numberplate light with no issues, but when i bought some for the side lights and they where suppose to be Canbus ones with built in resistors i still got the bulb out light.. so went back to standard w6w bulbs..
I don't think the number plate bulbs are part of the same system as mine are fine chap..
 
I got some LED number plate bulbs the other week, from a link someone posted up on here a bit back. They were pretty cheap so I didn't mind taking a punt on them, but they've turned out to be useless. They worked at first, although it has to be said they weren't especially bright (the whole idea of fitting them in the first place), but they now both packed up completely after less than a fortnight's use. I'll be changing them back for filament bulbs at the earliest opportunity. As Add has said though, they don't trigger the bulb-out warning light.
 
I have found the number plate lights are ok but they only last about 6 months max on my car, but they are cheap and do make a nice difference to the horrible yellow dim light the standard bulbs put out. I have found the LED ones to be very bright TBH.
 
Yep, as Pete said, My LED's in the number plate lights are "BRIGHT".. I did a search for 501 LED on eBay and did not get the cheapest ones, i went up to about £3 from memory.. but i used them on my old cougar and they where in there for a year or more with no issues..
And these ones on this car have been in a few months now, again no issues.. :cool:
 
I've got 501 LEDs wired into the extra front sidelights on my C2. Like Add, I went for some quality ones, 4 LEDs in a clear plastic mounting so they wouldn't stand out when switched off. They're pretty bright and have been running for about 18 months. I've got the same ones fitted in my footwell lights too.

Got to disagree about the reverse lights I changed mine to 36 led ones and can't see crap now when reversing, although worth noting my lights are tinted but could see fine with standard bulbs compared to these led ones.

You should be ok as you have a C2 which doesn't have the bulb failure warning.
Indicators will need resistors though.

I've used LEDs in my reverse lights and and the little corner lights for my USA rears (also C2).
My reverse lights are bright to look at but no good for lighting up the road behind you.

Well I disagree with you JJ on that one. Mine are miles better and I will post up a pic if I can find one of mine. There is a massive difference between the standard bulb and an LED one.

Not really. For my USA rear lights mod I wanted legal indicators so I used the reverse lens with chrome/orange bulbs.
But I didn't want to do away with reverse lights (not tested on the MOT). I at least wanted other people to see that I'm in reverse gear.
 
I got round the 'US' issue by buying some effin' bright orange LED bulbs (took me two attempts, the first lot I bought weren't very bright at all, as witnessed at Ford Fair) to put behind the red indicator lens. They flash orange, even through the red lens, and I get to retain the reversing lights as per factory. Interestingly, my reverse lights, with the exact same bulbs, seem to light up the road a lot more with US lenses than with the Euro spec ones, they have a slightly different texture on the inside of the lens itself and it seems to do a much better job of letting light get through.
