Being a workshop manager in the past, at a hire company, I used to get the new toys, that was some years ago mind you, the new at the time Makita cordless was useless at best and I ended up burning out three drills, not so much the motor, but the brush holders and cap used to melt.
I have used Dewalt for years, Never had a problem with them.
It all depends on what you are going to use it for work or DIY.
I like Stihl tools and know them well, as I used to fix them at that job, but well over priced for what they are, plus that daft four stroke engine that runs on two stroke, with a plastic camshaft, what a pain that was.
I keep to the more heavier duty tools myself, they last longer.
