Treated myself to a new cordless drill, seems very good so far and looks very cool in its alloy case

A brand i've never owned but have used quite a lot in the distant past. Quality all the way. We have a reviews section Colin. It might be useful to others if you can post some updated info in there.

Agreed. All my stuff is Metabo or DeWalt. Would love to hear reviews from people who've used other kit.
Not at all! Snap-On does amazing stuff. It's just that T's dad is a Metabo and Sealy dealer, so tools don't cost too much for us.
They're mostly made from the same blanks anyway. It's just that some are better finished and some come with a better replacement policy...
ive had one of these since 2008 and its still as strong as a horse!
only advise ill say about it is dont leave the battery completely drained for long periods... apparently it kills them as they are lithium ion batterys just like the ones in yer laptop.
the great thing about them is they dont go flat after a week of not using it unlike poxy nimh cells.

Being a workshop manager in the past, at a hire company, I used to get the new toys, that was some years ago mind you, the new at the time Makita cordless was useless at best and I ended up burning out three drills, not so much the motor, but the brush holders and cap used to melt.
I have used Dewalt for years, Never had a problem with them.
It all depends on what you are going to use it for work or DIY.
I like Stihl tools and know them well, as I used to fix them at that job, but well over priced for what they are, plus that daft four stroke engine that runs on two stroke, with a plastic camshaft, what a pain that was.
I keep to the more heavier duty tools myself, they last longer.

Well so far with the limited use its had its been very good, seems sturdy, nice heft to it, strong torque and easy to use controls, its only a DIY tool not for work so it feels like it will be fine, only had cheaper models before by Black & Decker, Draper, Power Devil so at £157 its a bit more expensive than i have paid in the past but it does have a 2nd battery, a load of drill bits, screw driver bits and sockets plus the smart alloy case, its going to live in the house unlike all my other power tools so i needed something self contained and tidy.
Makita are very good. Most of the joiners I know use their stuff. Fabrication shops are full of Makita grinders and drills....as is my workshop.
They can't be bettered for the money I reckon.
