Well it failed the MOT today.......................
But it was a small hole in the near side front floor pan, £35 to repair. It passed everything else with no issues at all. So I guess the car will live for another year. It is booked in for the repair on Wednesday.
I had fully prepared myself that this could be it for the car and I was expecting the worst as I have done nothing at all to this car for well over 2 years now due to not using it very much.
I have decided to get under it over the next few weeks and rust treat it. There is no reason given the amount that I do not use it that it will not last a good few years yet whist I continue to save up for my next and final Car / Toy.

Yes the front sill which was fully repaired but this is right in the corner of the floor pan as it meets the sill/front of the car. To be honest it does not look bad at all, it is a small hole and he did have a good poke in and around it. I have told them to cut as much away as they like to make it good.
I was fully expecting things to be much worse given I have done nothing at all with the car. There is some surface bubbling on the paint work in 2 places but it will take years for it to be a massive issue due to the car being garaged 24/7.
As I said, I will put some effort into it now underside and hopefully the car will survive a few more years. I will just be very selective as to when I use it from now on and try to only use it on dry days in the future.

Well I think for this car to continue life then it just makes sense. I have the VW Golf Bluemotion now for my everyday use which is great.

Counterpoint: All a normal garage does is protect the car from rain. Humidity is more insidious and will rot the car from the inside because of the way that condensation happens.

Either buy a solar-powered dehumidifier for your garage, or just take the thing out for a run a couple times a month. Seems you have the luxury of a weekend car - like Tracey does - so it would be a shame if it disintegrated ironically due to lack of use.

Haters gonna hate, but I don't want to see a man lose his beloved wheels just because they aren't used. There's a reason that museums are dry, with a temperature well above dewpoint.

It does get taken out once a week for the school run. I am mindful of it just sitting there doing nothing as I know problems will arise if I leave it to long. My plan is to keep it going until I have enough money for my next and final toy in my life.

Cheers Chris. Another year in the bag. But I will make the effort to get under it over the next few weeks because if I do not then next MOT time I feel it could be very bad indeed.
