okay, i've had the group buy battery tray for a while now and i needed a stainless mounting bracket to replace the original as you can't fit the battery tray with it, i ended up getting this 1 that someone on here had posted a link to

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150719643480?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649#ht_821wt_932

anyway, i also needed some dark blue vinyl to go behind the cutout Cougar head and my lettering so got some off Al, right on xmas and he posted it out to me, cheers Al (y)

of course with nothing better to do the day after boxing day, i thought i would fit it to the car, but first take a pic of all components,

then to warm the battery tray and apply the vinyl that Al had sent me,

now to take a before pic of battery and clamp,

now to put on my new stainless clamp, note the velcro that came with the battery tray is stuck to the clamp in 3 places and i carefully measured it against the tray so that both sides meet exactly,

next up was to test fit the tray to the clamp to make sure my measuring was accurate,

and then remove the protective and extremely well stuck on protective film and polish up the top surface of the tray and admire my handiwork ;)

i'm well chuffed with it, but i wish i'd polished it up before applying the blue vinyl as i've managed to get metal polish on the visible blue vinyl. AL, do you think it would be okay to use some white spirit on a q-tip to get it off or will it melt the vinyl?

anyway, what do you think folks? :p:p:p

Did you insulate the tray above where the battery terminals are chap? I used some gaffer tape for now, but will get some rubber matting to insulate it properly..
Looking good by the way.. (y)

the tray is raised above the terminals by at least half an inch so i think it should be safe enough but thanks for pointing that out, i may cut a bit of rubber mat i have and stick it on with double sided tape to be on the safe side (y)(y)(y)

Very worth doing chap.. you don't want it shorting at any time..

Andy, i'm not sure about the white spirit affect but i think it will melt the vinyl. If you stuck the vinyl to the underside of the cover, that would leave the sticky side exposed through the cutouts in the cover which will attract all sorts of dirt etc. I can send a new peice which is doubled at the cutouts to stop this. As Add says, make sure the cover is insulated at the terminals, i used a vinyl floor tile cut to fit.

i have done as you suggested, but i did have to remount the velcro on rubber strips aswell, and the terminals just about rest on the insulation so it doesn't really rock about either, well chuffed now, and it's safe also (y):D:beer:

cheers mate, and all the very best to you aswell, still not made it up your way yet. BTW, i am now back at home, have been for 3 weeks now and it's great again :whistle::whistle:

Andy that is looking sweet mate, very nice indeed. I need to get my butt in gear and sort mine out. I need to get hold of one of those straps that you managed to find on fleabay. Has Mart managed to create one yet does anyone know?

as far as i am aware, Mart said he couldn't make them to the same standard of rigidity for the same price, that's why i jumped on that ebay link
