new cougar owner

Hello and welcome to the club ;-)

There is no proper manual for the Cougar although the v6 mondeo Haynes manual can come in useful for engine problems.
Best bet is to subscribe here and get access to the paid sections. There is no problem with the Cougar that hasn't been experienced and sorted by people on here at some point.

Hi and welcome to the forum. You will find all you ever need to know right here man (y)

Hi mate and welcome to the home of the Cougar. Looks like you got a bargain there. Could just be a fuse that's causing your washers not to work and Ariel plug out causing your radio problems.

Washers could be the screenwash frozen - if it's frozen solid then the pump will not operate (mine has been doing this the last couple of weeks despite using undiluted screenwash) (y)

Hello and welcome aboard - re: Washers - as per what others have advised, the pump is fairly quiet as I can't hear mine but it does work. Re: Radio - best thing is to pull it out, get down to Halfrauds and pick up a cheap stereo for anywhere from £70 upwards. I picked up Kenwood with 4 x 40 watt (with MP3 jack on front panel) for my Coug and the sound is brilliant, much better than the orginal head unit. I recently picked up a new Sony CDX-GT25 head unit for my Mondeo and I only paid £69.99 for that and that is 4 x 45 watt with Bass Boost as well as MP3 jack on front panel.

Anyway, nice Frosty you have there and in good nick too.

Welcome.

I see it's got leather. They look less comfy than the cloth seats and don't "hug" you as much as the cloth. It'd be nice to hear from some one who has experienced both leather and cloth cougar seats.

Personally I don't like leather

Never had leather myself, but have sat in a few Cougs that do and they are comfortable, however you slide around a bit when taking it into fast corners etc. Also not nice when Coug has been sat in the sun - you'll burn your legs! (if wearing shorts that is) lol. I'm sure a few of the others will be along shortly to advise further.

Leather is way too cold in winter too. You just can't win!

Both my Cats have had leather, I just like the 'special' feeling of a posh-ish interior. I'm sure the cloth probably would be grippier under hard cornering - that's just basic physics - but to be honest I never throw the car round corners on it's door handles anyway.

Pros and cons with both. I had cloth oem in my cat when i bought it, and it is very comfy and grippy. It's good in summer as it doesn't get red hot, but in the damp winter months, i found it can be uncomfortable. If your a lively driver, it does keep you in the seat better, but i think my biggest gripe with the cloth is, it seems to get scruffy looking very quickly.
I prefer leather (fitted a couple of years back). Ok it gets hot in summer, just be carefull when you plant yourself into it and serves you right for wearing shorts for driving anyway, (not cool at all) Winter! imo this is where the leather gains hands down, heaters in the squab and backrest . I have been known to slide on my seat, but very rarely, if your planted properly, you can't go far anyway! For me, leather just looks and feels so much better, i wouldn't go back to cloth.

Welcome to the forum :)
With regards to the leather/cloth debate I found on a recent 200 mile trip to the midlands I was walking like John Wayne when I got out of the cat!
I have the leather and find it very comfy round the doors but on a long journey it was hard work..
