Hi everyone, I'm new to my cougar and it has developed a problem,
It has blown a fuse (No 34 for temp control, mirrors and interior lights),
replaced it and it blew on contact, tried again and it blew again.
any ideas please:(

Hi Ian and welcome to ukcougar.com, your in the right place for all things cougar related, as well as some crazy banter. You will also be able to find all the fixes you need in our subscriber sections. Have a browse around the open forums and get a feel for the place. Remember! ukcougar.com is the only workshop manual for the big cat.
Sounds like you have a dead short in one of those circuits. Try disconnecting the interior light bulb and the mirror multiplugs and see if the fuse still blows. Then if thats ok, reconnect each circuit in turn, ie: illimination (y)

Many thanks for the information, i will give it a try and see what happens, Thanks

Hello and Welcome aboard Ian. Good to see another person from Lincoln on here, I'm an ex-Lincoln-ite myself, infact I was only in Lincoln on Monday. Hope you get your issues sorted with the fuses.

hi ian, welcome to the forum , you possibly have water getting into the mirror wiring, as al says unplug all and try adding each one back in turn to locate the prob, (y)

Check you've not got anything in your cigarette light either. I've accidnetly dropped a bit of metal in one of mine once and it kept blowing the fuse.

Not sure if it's on the same circuit though, wasn't a Cougar I did it in :p

Welcome aboard matey!

Its worth checking to see if the cig-lighter is on the same circuit (I don't remember!) I had to change the one in my dads Cougar recently as his kept blowing fuses - turned out to be the bulb-holder on the back of the lighter was earthing through the main cig-lighter body, due to the piggy-back style connector on the back, working itself loose and dropping down.

You'll get it sorted soon!

Regards - Guy. ;-)

Hello and welcome to the forum.
It has been known for the multiplugs in the door shuts to suffer from water ingress and corroded pins so might be worth a look there.

Thanks guys, i feel at home already,
I have not tried problem solving yet as it has been far too wet to be hanging out of the car with my fingers in the fuse box,
Many thanks to all.
