I last posted with a thread about buying a cougar,
a little surprise has come along, my dad has offered me his 2.0 for free! as he'd like it to stay in the family for a little bit longer and my Ka is coming to the end of its life lol!

Me and my girlfriend went out for a drive last night in the cat we have noticed that the heat is near enough luke warm the direction etc works fine but theres a major lack of heat and reminds me of being a kid in the back of the capri's as they didnt always want to play ball either.
The heater matrix did spring a leak a few months back but as a temp fix my dad used rad weld so he could still drive the car to work etc but never got round to changing the matrix which is something I am looking at doing when funds allow( also blew out very little heat even before this).
The temp gauge after a bit of driving the needle sits at approx one needle width from centre on the gauge.

My dad also bought a leather interior but when he tried to fit the front seats he came up against a wiring problem the loom in the car had different plugs to tge ones on the car, I have been told its a case of some soldering but not sure where to begin ?. I have also been told that it would be possible to have the heated pads work too something to do with wiring and a relay under the bonnet?

I will post pics when possible :) so far im lovin the big cat and cant wait to begin some light modifications when funds allow! :))

Thanks

Rob

Hello Rob and welcome to the forum.
The temp. needle is in the right place but it sounds like your matrix could do with a flush.
You're correct about the seats having different looms and there are loads of threads on the forum that will cover it but it's mainly down to an age thing; early leather seats had three plugs on the loom whereas later ones only had two on the loom and one incorporated into the seat.

Hi Rob and welcome to Cougar ownership. As Andy has said, there is plenty of info on the forum regarding seat changing and it sounds like the heater matrix needs a good flush or indeed changing. Easy enough problems to resolve. I would get my heater matrix done first as you will need it at this time of year. Once you get the seats fitted you will have added comfort of heated seats for those really cold winter mornings. You may have to add a relay and/or fuse to get the heat pads to work though.

Welcome to Cougardom fella,

As a side note the heater on mine does seem to take a while to blow any decent heat out, and it had a new one just before i got it and takes a while to warm up properly, but once warm its ok,

Hello Rob and welcome.
As has been said there is loads of info in the forum threads but you will probably need to be a subscriber to get the best out of it.
Enjoy your cat!

Welcome Rob!

Sounds like you've got the same sort of niggles (heater, fitting leather interior) that many of us have been through before. There's plenty of information available about everything you've mentioned.

If the matrix was leaky and has been radwelded, flushing might help but IMHO I'd probably just replace the thing, ("Just", he says, like it's a 5 minute job or something  ) for peace of mind.
