If your 'miles to go' was saying 7 or 8 miles you must of been just about on the smell; adding about 9 lits. to an almost empty 55 lit. tank isn't going to make that much difference.
Try adding half a tanks worth, 25 or 30 lits. and see if you get more of a reaction from the gauge and the computer. Bear in mind though the computers aren't that accurate and will drop like a stone through the bottom 1/4 of the tank.

Ah thanks I'll be putting 40 in tomorrow was just to potter about tonight and was slightly worried it didn't go up, I better not tell the missus she was right haha

Welcome to the nuthouse!

I recognise the reg number, it's gonna bug me as to whose car it used to be. I'll suss it [emoji6] Is it lowered? I thought it might have been Stewart's old car? If not, might have belonged to old timer from the early days of the club. Depends on the sticker style tbh.

Anyhoo, enjoy! Right engine at least [emoji2]

Dazza,

Given the size of the tank (as in, the width and length) I find that it takes a good 10-15 litres from empty before there's enough depth that the float registers the change. And since the "Miles Left" display relies on it, just putting in £10 worth won't do anything.

What you'll probably find is that if you drove for ten quid's worth now (around 50-55 miles*) the display will happily show you negative figures.

I don't know what your car knowledge - or interest - is, but Christina H has a brilliant write up of it here.

* 11.5 gallon tank @ 30MPG = 345 miles/£65 per tank = 5.3 miles/£1 * 10 = 53 miles

welcome!

i find that from empty you need at least £15 to get the needle to move again..
i was shocked when removing my fuel tank to find almost a litre in it as i had supposedly run it dry! this is the problem with very wide shallow fuel tanks.
dont worry its not a fault.

Hello and welcome aboard. Get your wallet out, remove wads of cash, fill her up, turn the key and enjoy the smiles per miles :)
