First of all i apologize if this is in the wrong section,

When i changed my front discs and pads i noticed my tyres were near the limit so set about checking prices :eek::eek:
I thought maybe ebay would be cheaper , then i came across a set of five 18 inch alloys for auction with a good set of 225/40/18 tyres, but the description said they needed a refurb even the pics looked ok (but i know how deceiving pics can be). I decided to take the gamble and thought if i could get them cheap enough then i could maybe afford the refurb.I won them for £156 and picked them up on friday, first thoughts were what have i done as they looked a bit of a mess, one is buckled but is repairable the others looked like the pic below

I decided to give it go on trying to sort them out ,armed with plenty of wet and dry paper i started rubbing

each wheel was treated to 3 grades of paper 120 grit,240 grit and finally 1200grit and then a polish with auto glyms metal polish and then a couple of coats of laquer

and finally after 3 days of sanding and polishing and even though i cant feel the end of my fingers i am pleased with the result as they all looked like this

I must admit the 18s do fill the arches better (y)

Very nice finish you got , plus looking good filling them arches out one always feels pleased after tackling a diy fix and the results are worth the time and effort

Well, that's a gamble that has definitely paid off. Looking great Mikey and paintwork is looking super shiny too!
