Hi guys,(y)
New to this forum. Had a few Blue ovals over the years but not had a cougar before.
Might be going to see one tomorrow, and if its as good as described will hopefullybe buying it! Will let you know how it goes.

The forum looks good and i look forward to being actively involved!

Is there much difference between the 2ltr and the V6 in terms of what to look for? Seen some threads re the V6 but none regarding the 2ltr.

The 2lt'r is pretty bomb proof if looked after there have been occasional headgasket fialures but these are usually down to underlying problems with the cooling system. Welcome to the forum have nosey around you'll find a lot of good info and friendly people on here mate.

What kindof mpg can a 2ltr achieve taking it easy? fast driving?

Welcome Steve, and if you're looking for info on the Cougar you've come to the right place (y)

The 2.0L Zetec is more tuneable if that is something that interests you - more power gains can be had out of it over the V6. The Zetec is pretty much bomb proof as mentioned provided it's been serviced regularly - the same engine as in the Mk1 Focus and Mk2 Mondeo. As for MPG you're looking at mid to late 30s on a long run and low to mid 30s around town for the Zetec. For the size of the car though the Zetec is pretty frugal when driven sensibly. I'm averaging around 27mpg around town and about 31mpg on a long run with the V6. Have fun with your search, just remember to check the Cougar's achilles heels - the wishbones (expensive) (y)

Mate, he's possibly still out driving it with a huge grin on his face! lol I'm sure when he eventually runs out of fuel and makes it back to his pc he will let us know! lol
 
First of, sorry havent been on here recently. Was at work from 8am sun - 8PM monday!
Second, its someone i know selling the car but havent heard much from him and due to him working days and me working shifts i havent had chance to go see it yet.
Its a black 1999 2.0 Zetec, 105K miles and in good nick, got 1 pic of it sent to my phone. Hes a petrol head himself and doesnt do cheap and nasty so i trust him . . . . though will still check it out, better safe than sorry.

Got my current car up for sale so as soon as its sold i will go view and buy it (hopefully)! if it doesnt sell soon might dig into my wages to get it :)

Thirdly, thanks for the great welcome! much appreciated! As soon as i hear anymore i will let you guys know, sadly forums are blocked on the computer at work....
