Not bad

How the?....What....just how.....huh?.....Stumped! pmsl!!!

Now in my V6 at that speed I'm doing nearer 4000RPM! How does a 2ltr with all that weight manage not just 40mpg! but that speed at such low rev's????

Weight or engine size / power doesnt come into it, the speed you travel is decided by gear ratios..at any given RPM( say 3000rpm) in a given gear ( say 5th gear) the cougar will always be travelling at a certain speed ( say 70mph)...the only variables are if you have none standard rolling radius or a slipping clutch.
Even with engine problems, if you can get the revs up to the example 3000rpm in fifth then you would still be doing 70mph
I'm only guessing at the figures BTW ;-)

Just remembered that JJ cleaned and polished the inside of his gearbox so perhaps that's the reason for the good MPG figures
