In a dream world
I was going to put this in the problem section, but it's not really a problem more of an annoyance really !!

When I got the cat (Dec last year) I put a new battery in the remote as it seemed to be a bit lazy at locking/unlocking, but it still seems to be lazy needing several blips to get the locking/unlocking and double locking to activate.

But today, I've noticed it seems to work better when your standing on the passenger side of the car weird I know

I was wondering if any one else has noticed this "annoyance" or is it just me, I was going to try re-programming the key, but i've only got one key and one red chip key and from what i understand of it, you also need another blue chip key to do the re-programming !!

All Cougars are red chip. So long as you have 2 working keys you can program another key to the ECU. In your case it sounds like you mean just the remote which doesn't require 2 key programming. If you dig up the How To guide both adding a key and pairing a remote processes are covered :)

Check that you have installed the correct battery type as if its the thinner type the connection can be rubbish also sometimes you have slightly bend the contacts back up to connect to the battery fully
