Did it.....just picked up a 99 v6 long mot fantastic drive not an xpack sadly but the lure of a 70k cat in good condition for £550 off a good owner was worth the compromise....am absolutely loving being back in a cat....off to waste some valuable petrol!

Well done on your acquisition. (y)

My old cougar was an xpack and the only difference I can see with this one is no cruise control....it has all the stuff my old one had leather etc etc so is it not an xpack or an xpack without cruise?

My X-Pack didn't have cruise control but had all the other trimmings you could get in the 1990s.

Think it may have been an additional option or even not available. Plenty on here will know!

Cruise was only fitted as standard on auto's.

It's easy enough to retro-fit to manuals as all the wiring is already in place. Module, bracket, cable, pedal switches and steering wheel/buttons are required.

The 'X-Pack' consisted of leather, a CD multi-changer in the boot and metallic paint.

It's all 'plug and play' if you use a cruise steering wheel; if you have to add the buttons to a non-cruise wheel then you need to make a couple of connections.
The hardest part is sourcing the correct throttle activating cable; V6 manual ones are difficult to come by.

Welcome back to Cougar ownership, sounds like you found a good'un! However....this thread is useless without pic's of the said cat! So, come on we love Cougar porn on here! lol!!!!

Cheers for the warm welcome from everyone it's appreciated...the cat is the only car I have ever regretted selling and am loving being back behind the wheel. It has some tidying needed but all in good time....one thing i want to look at is getting a better sounding exhaust on it, nothing like a ridiculously loud massive Impreza style pipe but something a bit deeper and throatier than standard....any suggestions? Not a full system jut a back box really also need to fit a tow bar with electrics to pull my bike trailer so plenty to be getting on with!

There's a few back boxes out there that you could choose from. However, depends upon your budget? Some of us have MIJ systems on our cougs. I personally have an MIJ mid-sport with a MIJ sports cat and quad pipes out of the rear...she makes a lovely noise! lol!!

Had a look on the MIJ site and on thier evilbay page where they list some nice backboxes....so a mid sport box should give me a little more growl without being all shouty?

Yes, definitely. I started with the back boxes, but I had an issue with the MIJ mid box (as it kept scraping on the dropped kerb in/out of my driveway at the time, as my car is lowered), so I had it removed and a straight pipe through to the rear boxes put on. So mine is proper shouty! (which is what I wanted, as not a daily driver) lol!!!!
