Secrets of the lost Fords they never made

Another article - this time glossy pictures of the Capri.
I really slipped up in 1988, my work colleague suggested that like him I could get an XR2 on Ford finance - I looked into it and chose the Orion - edging my aspirations up to the 1.6i Ghia for just a few pounds more per month - about £10800 plus interest.
Had I only known:
Too few people were willing to stump up the £11,999 required for what was chiefly a cosmetic upgrade over the standard 2.8i – 15-inch wheels, ‘Brooklands’ green metallic paint, grey leather with red piping and 280 decals. Some cars remained unsold well into 1988, even with a discounted price of £9,995.

The so called practical classic cars have had a huge hike in both interest and price since the pandemic, except in Yorkshire where bangers and cash is filmed, there everything seems to go for thousands less than down south or in classified advertising.
