I have a V reg 2.5 V6 cougar here that I no longer use.

I paid £600 for it about 8 months ago.

I was wondering what is the best course of action to sell it on for the best money, break it and weight in whats left or sell it as is??

It does need a couple of jobs doing but is in good condition inside and out, so it would be a shame to take it apart, but I have to maximise what i get for it.

I know that this is not the selling forum, I am not offering the car for sale as yet, just asking advice.

Thanks

Well provided the bodyshell is in good order and the sills are not rotting away then that's not a huge list of jobs to complete and you'd be better sorting them out and selling on. 124k is barely run in for a Duratec V6!

if you break it, you've got a limited market for standard parts and you could have a stockpile of bits for quite some time!

Unless you have anything really desirable, breaking it won't get you much of a return.

Standard Cougar parts are ten a penny and you'll struggle to shift them even at bargain prices....I threw away a perfect set of leather last year because nobody wanted it.....crying shame really but there is an absolute glut of second hand spares at the moment and prices have never been lower.

Sell.

The fuel pump is a bit of a PITA, but easily doable in a day. The rest of that is 5-minute jobs, and in all likelihood your moose can be fixed without a kit.

Sell.

How do you fix the moose without a kit? (although i haven't heard it since the alty was swapped)

I've got you covered courtesy of Procomm, who I learned this from:

It will come back eventually though, (we're talking months here) so this isn't a one-off job. But if you're selling, it fixes it for you and the new owner will get to learn something about harmonic resonance and keeping their intake clean.

(I'm not suggesting this is dodgy by the way. It's just maintenance.)
