the irritating noise

the begining is with the clutch down, then comes the noise with the clutch up???
think it maybe the concentric cylinder???
what you guys think?
just click black square to connect to link. cheers.

The concentric would make a noise with the clutch depressed that sounds like gearbox chatter check the fluid level in the gearbox.

gearbox level is fine...only worried in case summit goes smash as need car to make long journey soon
and dont want to be broken down while on holiday.

Or could it be loose springs on the clutch? Sachs/Ford clutches tend to do this.
It's not a problem until the spring breaks or comes out (you'll have more problems than a noise when that happens!!!).
Our C1 has had a clatter noise (clutch up/neutral) since about 70,000 miles. It's now on 139,000 with the same original clutch.
The noise isn't as bad as yours though.

The gearbox oil level is checked every service and rarely needs topping up and the gearchange is smooth and precise.

Could that be because the engine is idling at higher revs when cold?
Once it's hot, try and raise the revs to say a constant 1100 to 1200 rpm - does the rattle then die down?

I take it you camera was placed on the passenger side of the car? It will get louder when gearbox oil heats up and thins. I suspect this is reverse gear chatter. The reverse gear is located next to the gearbox end plate. Change the gearbox oil for a starter.

Have you checked whether a family of chipmunks are living in the engine bay?

Hope you find the prob mate & get it sorted cheaply, not heard that one before?

I'd be interested to know what the fault is when you locate it.(y)

Don't go there yet Paul:stop:, if you're handy or a mech who knows all this stuff, these kinda probs can often be easy fixes, stay positive until told otherwise dude.(y) Have you taken into a garage for a quote, or had anyone with expertise look it over yet?

It's not clutch springs if they go you can't get gears it is reverse chatter something Mart (Dogsbodys) has been doing for the last couple of years. Solution gearbox swap. Manos has a low mileage one for sale.
