My step son Nathan was turned 18 last December, so, we decided to get him something special as a birthday present. In the end we couldn't choose between A half days rally driving course or a 160ft bungee jump, so we got him both :)

He does the bungee from the top of the Transporter Bridge in Middlesbrough on 30th January and did the rally driving yesterday

Now, Nathan had 3 obstacles to overcome for the rally driving:

He's never driven a car before
He's scared of fast cars after being in a bad crash with his dad when he was younger
He's profoundly deaf, but has a cochlea implant which gives him some hearing

Well, I cant praise the staff at Chris Birkbeck Rally School highly enough for the way they helped him overcome his obstacles :)

Shots 3, 4 & 5 are of him as a passenger on his Instructor demo lap at the end of the course. An experience [the demo lap] guaranteed to make you soil your underwear!!!

...and shot's 1 & 2 are Nathan in the rally spec Ford Ka after just 2 hours of tuition!

That looks great fun and I am sure that he enjoyed every moment, despite his fears. Sounds like a good day :)

Looks good, if you ever think about the rally days at Silverstone don't bother. Spent more time watching everone else taking turns and in about 3-4 hours did a few laps around thier special rally course then after a soaking with a bowser another few laps. We worked out we were sat in a car for around 10 minutes in total. Not good value for around £140 each ! These smaller independent ones are far better value.

Superb pics as usual Colin. Looks like a quality day out and Nathan will have amazing pics to remember every minute ;)
