but as a big chap 6 foot 4 19 stone will i fit in one. currently drive an old x reg mondeo estate and fit in with ease.

The drivers seat is electric and can be lowered a lot, so being 6' 4" will be no problem. As other have said, no issues at all. There are plenty of good and quite cheap cougs out there. Happy Cougar hunting :)

just seen one on ebay and the seller said he had replaced the subframe, claiming it to be a common problem ? is this so ?

Its getting to that age now with these cars that the rear subframes are falling foul to rust and quite a few guys in the club have either done or are in the process of doing this

The fact that it's been done recently is a good thing IMO - that'll last another ten years at least - or as long as the rest of the car will anyway...

'Pricey' is relative: if you can think of any other car of this age and spec. for under a grand that only requires a few hundred quid to bring it back to very nearly 'as new' running condition, I'd like to see it...

Any 13 year old car is going to need work doing to it... I'm glad that so many of the common items are actually so cheap.
Cheaper still if you source them carefully on the used market...
