Quick question is there two variations for the v6?
on taking out the starter I removed it to go more room and found the threats were buckled, I was very lucky it came out in one piece. any how before I took it out there was a lot of antifreeze residue around it like there was a coolent leek round it propabley due to threads been rubbish also found that it only goes half in

iv got my local garage to get me another one due to state of threads he has given me two different ones and on looking at ebay there is two there as well one with a cone and one with a cylinder end which one is meant to be used?
should I also use pfte tape or silicon stuff when refitting this and should it screw right in does the thread normaly stick out about good 2 or 3mm

As these are soft-metal fittings there is usually no need to use PTFE etc, I'm a bit confused by your post though maybe you could link to the two separate part numbers?

It's dead easy to "mash" the threads on these alloy housings and brass threads.

I have my little one on top of me this still trying to get her to sleep will list them when she goes to sleep on checking ebay there seems to be two variants both require a 19mm spanner is there a difference on c1 c2?

Ah, bit of investigation revels that the earlier (2544cc) engine uses the conical seat version, the 2495cc later engine uses the square seated version, looks like a Volvo bit at a cursory glance.

Best method would probably be to whip out the offending one and take a look at the seat, then order the corresponding one. I'd chase out the threads on the housing if they're suspect then compound it in.

Which engine do you have?

Well, the conical seat one uses an old plumbing standard (looks like the range wide Ford sender back to year-dot), I guess the newer one may have a metricised thread, that'd explain a lot.

If somebody has mixed the thread types that'll explain why it doesn't fit, and why the threads are mashed. How recoverable they'll be without see them I wouldn't like to say, but NPTF and a conventional (and logical) metric thread aren't similar, so there is a good chance it's recut the existing thread and requires a bit of fettling to fix.

Sounds like Mr. DIY has done something a bit wrong here. Other option would be to fill it with "gunge" tighten it up as much as possible and keep your fingers crossed. A decent sealer (Dow Corning 744 holds the water industry of the UK together as one example) should keep it in place and leak-free.

On investigation I have found there is to temp senders one for the ecu and one for the gauge the gauge one is right above the thermostat but the ecu one is above the starter
both have the exact same thread I can only assume they are different when then they both come out
talk ford has a bit on this I would have never thought this was the case normaly just have one
so now I am wondering if I should replace both or just the one with the buckled threads
