Rather in the vain of
What are you listening to, what are you reading, automotive and non automotive subjects, here is my current read.20201216_163136.jpg20201216_163121.jpg

'Rivolta Grifo-Fidia "Lele" Bizzarrini' ('LeLe' for short) also happens to be the name of an Italian prostitute I met in a bar in Genoa. Nice girl.

Anyway I'm not reading anything at the moment as I haven't got the time, but the last (fiction) novel I read was Nimitz Class by Patrick Robinson.

It's still entertaining for a second read, but it's aged like milk because it was written pre-9/11.

Italian prostitutes are probably as fast as the Grifo 186 mph :)

And for some light relief :) :)

Good mixture (y)

Matt, Tracey tends to fixate on historical eras (WWII, the Trail of Tears etc). So our house is full of books like that. Reading the story of the man who voluntarily inserted himself into Auschwitz is...harrowing.

Anyway, I'm dipping into this and then doing my own side research because I love a challenge! Anyone else want to play?

Lots of interesting stuff upstream, I've read lots of WW2 stuff, If your into that try Stalingrad and Berlin both by Antony beevor. Bad stuff happens in war, I hope to continue to avoid it.

We have visited Verdun twice, once in the Cougar. The local Ford dealer there changed the alty for me the first time it failed.
We returned a few years later to do the stuff we missed.

Spent this Covid year reading through my library and reading stuff I've read before. Gormenghast by Mervyn Peake is one finished for maybe the 4th time . Not long finished the Phillip Pullman trilogy, for the 3rd time, still fascinating concepts.
Easier reading than Ghormanghast but similar fantasy worlds, Robin Hobb has written at least 3 trilogy’s that can be read stand alone but ideally in sequence, they are on the book shelf by my Knee as I write, I’ll enjoy them all again.
Also not long finished reading Hidden Faces by Salvador Dali, I believe his only work of fiction set in France just before WW2, that for the second time. Its now destined for the charity shop didn't do much for me first time when I read it as a 20 year old. Def not one I’d recommend.
For some easy reading just started the Harry Potter books, probably 10 years or more since I last read them, I never did get as far as the last couple so maybe this time...

Yes I do read a fair bit :)

Whats the Auschwitz book called Mako ? I know of that happening and the book is on my must do list.

Just the most amazing life story. Soldier in WW2 was sent to Singapore. Captured by Japanese worked on death railway. Then got taken on POW ship to Japan for more slave labour. Got bombed, spent 11 days at sea on single raft. Recaptured and taken to work in coal mines at Nagasaki. Saw A-bomb go off, but eventually liberated by the Americans. Eventually got back home to Aberdeen. Only wrote the book when his wife died ( he was then 90! )...

#11. Just bought a copy. Thanks Foobar. I’ve read my share of WW2 stuff, mostly after my Dad died and I wanted to know more of what he went through.
Pre CV I used to buy books from a specialist book shop run by Oxfam. Not done that since 1st lockdown. I’ve re read much of my paperback collection and spent some time this evening unpacking some of them after our recent house move.
Something new will be good.

fantastic read this..most of u know of my love for german shepherd dogs..
this true story is about a czech pilot who rescued a gsd puppy abandoned in a bombed out farmhouse after he was 20211012_210308.jpg shot down on the french/german border and eventually found themselves in the RAF flying a wellington bomber, ironically this german shepherd used to fly with him on sorties over germany and was awarded many medals for bravery and saving lives when german bombers rained their destruction here..

Arrived today (y) Thank you.

#16. The Times has yet to promote a book that hasn’t appealed to me.
