This has been done loads of times on here Si, with quite varied results mate, Mine just now to London and back has been getting 34-36mpg on the motorway, and round town around 18-26 depending on how heavy my foot is mate.. 
Mine averages 29- 30 mpg on my 12 mile commute to work which is cross country and lots of stop starting in the evening.
Motorways i get about 33 - 34 mpg.

Broadly speaking, a 'healthy' standard V6 will return mid to late 20s around town, mid 30s on a run and low 20s to high teens if you spank it.
About 31-32 on my 12 mile run to work, tootling in town traffic. Less in winter.
On a good motorway run 36+, even had 39.5 once on a return Birmingham to Wales run but I was driving like a granny

I really can't understand what is wrong with mine - I've even had the engine replaced but I'm still only getting 18-22 in normal use and 24ish on motorway runs

Computer says 27mpg...however my wallet says otherwise, drinks like an alcoholic of late
Well except for today on M42 in a 50mph restriction zone I had 40.1mpg (did show 57mpg when I reset the computer)

With my old cougar before I sold it on was averaging 22mpg everywhere. These days its more 18-22mpg in my rx8. 250bhp with full stainless system, porting, bigger intake mods. Worth the difference of 80bhp for 'roughly' same consumption.
