Strange question -

Has anyone converted a zetec to a v6? How straight forward would an engine swap be considering ecu & immobiliser, wiring loom, fuel system, air conditioning, power steering pipes....? and whatever else that might need to be changed to make the v6 compatible?

Thanks,
Jeff :)

That would be a huge job and considering the value of these cars it just does not make sense financially. You'd be better off finding a good V6 to start with and not have to contend with the insurance headache......but that means saying goodbye to the car you've already invested in of course.

Why not explore getting more power out of the Zetec? it's a highly tuneable engine and you can get more out of it than the V6 with not too much trouble at all.

If you're set on a V6, take all the non engine-specific mods off your current car and transfer them to an existing V6, which will cost you far, far less then you'd spend converting one.

I agree with all the above. It's an interesting-sounding project, but sadly it makes no economic sense whatsoever.

Sounds like an excellent idea. Costly, difficult and ultimately fairly pointless. Go for it - it would be a hell of an achievement.:)

I was like, "Why is Matt acting like this is a good idea? He's insane." But I have a heavy cold and so I don't care.

I do care but... I don't.

Marginally, and the weather is helping. Being outside doing car stuff is a proper tonic. Thank you for asking. :)

The parts to do the conversion are available here from people breaking V6's will take about a 40 hours to convert, personally I wouldn't bother, if you want a bigger engine put a st220 lump in or a chevy small block failing that get a focus engine and twin turbo it (y)
